Real Madrid fans are not too fond of Pep Guardiola. Of course, it goes back to his run as the Barcelona manager, when the Catalan giants dominated Spanish football for a while, before Jose Mourinho turned things around. Since then, his Bayern Munich and Manchester City sides have come up against Los Blancos as well, but Los Merengues have come out on top on most occasions.

The most memorable is perhaps last season’s Champions League semi-finals, when Guardiola’s Manchester City side had one foot in the final before a stunning cameo from Rodrygo turned the tie around and ultimately, it was Real Madrid who advanced.

Thus, it is clear that there is a long history between Guardiola and Real Madrid. Yet, Toni Kroos seems to be a big fan of the Spanish manager. In fact, he believes that he is perfect for the German midfield maestro’s style of football.

As reported by Marca, Kroos said about Guardiola on Universo Valdano:

"“Guardiola fought until the last day for me to stay at Bayern. If you have to choose a coach who is perfect for my game, it is Guardiola. I really enjoyed the year with him, he improved me a lot.”"

Kroos did not play a long time under the management of Guardiola, who were together at Bayern Munich for only a year. It is clear that the manager did leave an impression on him even in that short period of time.

It is safe to say that both Kroos and Guardiola’s paths might have separated, but both have continued achieve success at the very highest level of the game.

Guardiola dominated German football with Bayern Munich before moving to Manchester City and doing the same to the Premier League. One thing that has eluded him is the Champions League though, with his last one coming at Barcelona in 2011. Kroos has been very successful in that area, winning four of them during his time at Real Madrid.

Their paths are almost guaranteed to never cross again, with Kroos already announcing his plans to retire at Real Madrid, even though he does not know when yet.
