Real Madrid arguably have the best midfield in all of football right now, with legends like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who are complemented by youngsters like Fede Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, who have world-class potential. Dani Ceballos has also improved a lot and proven himself to be a good option to have in the squad.
But on the other hand, there are some doubts over the position as well. Rumours have suggested that Kroos is considering retirement at the end of the season. Modric is 37 years of age and in the twilight of his career. And Ceballos’ current deal runs out at the end of the season.
Thus, Real Madrid might need to make an addition in the middle of the park soon and one player that they have been linked with and who has excited the fans is Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund.
Of course, Real Madrid are not the only club interested in the highly-rated Englishman and it looks like Liverpool are ready to pay big money for him. As reported by GOAL, BILD reporter Yannick Hubert told BBC Radio 5 Live:
"“The four most interested clubs [in Jude Bellingham] of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are already in concrete preparations for a possible transfer.“But we now know Liverpool are willing to pay €100 million (£86m) for him. It would definitely be next summer. They want him as the new face of the Reds, but it is doubtful if 100m euros will be enough to get him because Chelsea, City and Madrid have the better financial possibilities.”"
Liverpool ready to pay big transfer fee to sign Bellingham ahead of Real Madrid
It is safe to say that it looks like next summer, there will be a big race to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
The Englishman has certainly done nothing to slow down the hype around him. At 19 years of age, he is one of the top players in the Bundesliga, is performing brilliantly in the Champions League and is even captaining a historical club like Borussia Dortmund.
It is pretty clear that Bellingham is a special talent, who might find himself competing over the Ballon d’Or in the not too distant future. Thus, it is not hard to understand why so many of European football’s giants are after him.
