Real Madrid suffer fresh Antonio Rudiger injury blow
Real Madrid have been struggling with injuries this season and now, it looks like another name has been added to that list and it is of Antonio Rudiger. The German defender arrived in the summer on a free transfer, after his contract ran out at Chelsea, and has proven himself in the Royal White jersey, both with his quality and his dedication to the cause.
That led to him scoring a heroic equaliser in the game against Shakhtar Donetsk but it came at a cost as well, as Rudiger suffered a cut and had to get stitches for it.
That did not keep him out of action for any length of time and he played the very next match, against Barcelona, with a protective mask on. But this time around, it looks like a different issue might put him on the sidelines.
As reported by AS, Rudiger was absent from the group at Valdebebas and was treated by physiotherapists. The German is suffering from an overloaded hip and is a doubt for the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano.
Real Madrid suffer Rudiger injury blow before facing Rayo Vallecano
Real Madrid are not in the best run of form at the moment. They might have defeated Celtic 5-1 in midweek, but that has been their only win in the last three.
So, Los Blancos must be looking to bounce back against Rayo Vallecano. Rudiger potentially missing the game would be a blow though, while Karim Benzema, who came on as a substitute against Celtic and has been struggling with fitness issues all season, is a doubt as well.
Rayo Vallecano are in a good run of form at the moment and have won their previous two games, while the one before that was a draw against Atletico Madrid. They currently sit at 9th in the La Liga table. So, Carlo Ancelotti’s side cannot make the mistake of taking them lightly and this could be a tighter game than most people suspect.
