Erling Haaland update should interest Real Madrid

Real Madrid were linked with Erling Haaland at one point of time but it did not really feel like they made a push to sign him. In hindsight, that might have been a massive mistake on the part of Los Blancos. The Norwegian has gone on to join Manchester City and absolutely torn apart the Premier League in his first few months there. If he can stay fit, he might be about to break some all-time records in England.

On the other hand, after his incredible 2021/22 campaign, Karim Benzema has found the going tough this time around. He has been in and out of the team, as he has struggled to remain fit.

That has had a negative impact on the team’s results as well, as they have now fallen five points behind Barcelona in the La Liga table, something that would have been unimaginable when they defeated them by a 3-1 scoreline in the first El Clasico of the season not even a month ago.

There is some interesting news surrounding Haaland amidst all this though. As reported by AS, the Norwegian superstar is receiving Spanish classes. Manchester City say it is to aid his working relationship with Pep Guardiola.

While there might be truth to Haaland learning English to improve his understanding with Guardiola and his team of coaches, could it lead to more in the future?

It does not feel like Haaland is the type of player who will stick around at Manchester City till the end of his career. If there is any opportunity to sign him in the future, Real Madrid should not think twice before jumping on it.

Haaland is a generational player. That much has become clear already. There are rumours that there is a release clause in his contract with Manchester City that will become active in the summer of 2024.
