Dani Carvajal is showing the signs of ageing. Though he has been injury-free for a long time, he does appear tired now and again. Yes, he is world class but he needs a backup. Joao Cancelo can be a made to order replacement. He is experienced, plays at the highest level, confident on either foot and has speed, energy, creativity, technique along with dribbling and crossing abilities.

Having played under Pep Guardiola, he is tactically adept and can access the game situation for making opportunist runs in opposition half. He has also played in central midfield for Man City and can also take advantage if in scoring areas.

He is also a veteran of 4 European leagues having played in Portugal (Benfica), Spain (Valencia), Italy (Inter and Juventus) and England (Man City) with winning titles everywhere but Spain.

The man is high on experience and is already one of the best players in his position. He has a unique feat of providing a hat-trick of assists in a Champions League game to his name which he achieved while playing against Club Brugge last season. He can lighten the load for Carvajal and also can be an option in midfield.

Age wise speaking he is still only 28 and currently in his prime years. While there are others who are younger than him but Joao Cancelo can walk into any team, especially one like Real Madrid and nail a starting spot.
