Real Madrid find themselves in unexpected trouble right now. With their comeback 2-1 win over Osasuna despite being down to 10 men due to Robert Lewandowski’s red card, Barcelona now find themselves five points ahead of their rivals in the La Liga table. Carlo Ancelotti’s side do have a game in hand, against Cadiz, and it has suddenly become a bit of a must win situation.

One of the biggest problems for Real Madrid this season has been their striker situation. Karim Benzema has been in and out of the team due to fitness issues. Mariano Diaz does not seem to be in the manager’s plans. And while Rodrygo has done a decent job up front, he is not ready to carry the goalscoring load of the team yet.

Thus, while Real Madrid were not expected to make any further additions this season, they might have to dip into the transfer market for a forward in January.

As reported by SPORT, Real Madrid’s management is assessing market options to advance an operation that will be more than necessary in the summer. Two of the options on the table are Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Rafael Leao of AC Milan.

Real Madrid have their eyes on two Serie A superstars

Osimhen and Leao are without doubt two of the biggest superstars in the Serie A right now. Their clubs are expected to look for transfer fees close to or beyond the €100 million mark to let them go in the middle of the season though.

Leao has been making waves in Italy in recent times, and was the Serie A MVP last season, as AC Milan lifted the league title after an 11-year wait.

On the other hand, Osimhen could get his hands on the Serie A trophy this time around, with Napoli looking unstoppable and enjoying an 8-point lead at the top of the table. The Nigerian striker has played a big part in that. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 10 league appearances this season.

Thus, either player would be a major addition to this Real Madrid side, but it is hard to see them shelling out a significant transfer fee in January.
