Real Madrid star reveals Kylian Mbappe wanted him to join PSG

Real Madrid might not have been heavy spenders in recent seasons but the moves that they have made have been quality ones. The decision to bring Aurelien Tchouameni to the club from AS Monaco seems to be one such move. Till now, he seems to have been an inspired signing on the part of Los Blancos and someone who can be a key part of this team for the next decade or so.

Tchouameni has come in and seamlessly established himself as a starter in the middle of the park, replacing club legend Casemiro, who left in the summer to join Manchester United.

Things could have ended up differently if he had listened to his international teammate, Kylian Mbappe, though. It appears that the Paris Saint-Germain superstar wanted him to swap Monaco for the French capital as well.

As reported by Marca, speaking in an interview with L’Equipe, Tchouameni said regarding his conversation with Mbappe:

"“It was a very interesting conversation with Kylian.“He wanted to know what I was planning to do. I also asked him what he was planning to do. In June he decided he was going to stay and he was teasing me with [PSG defender Presnel] Kimpembe: ‘Come on, you have to come too [to PSG]!’ But my choice had already been made a long time ago. We laughed.”"

Mbappe had tried to convince the Real Madrid star to join PSG instead

It is safe to say that Tchouameni made the right decision by choosing to join Real Madrid, where he has established himself as a starter from the get go.

For him, a move to PSG might have been the safer route, as he had already proven himself in Ligue 1 and was very familiar with the style of football there. But he instead decided to take on the challenge of joining the biggest club in the world and it has paid off.

It is exactly the opposite of how things have turned out for Mbappe. The French superstar was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid himself but chose to sign a bumper new deal with PSG.

Things do not seem to have quite gone how he expected since then and rumours have suggested that he is already looking to leave the club.
