Eden Hazard has been heavily linked with a Real Madrid exit recently. The Belgian has barely featured this season and appears to be the last choice winger for Carlo Ancelotti at the moment. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 6 appearances and played 229 minutes of football in total, scoring and assisting once each.

That is not the kind of involvement that you would expect from the biggest signing in Real Madrid history.

Naturally, there are rumours surrounding his future, and some have even suggested that Hazard is now ready to leave Real Madrid and could seal an exit in January. Aston Villa have been linked with him in recent times, following the appointment of Unai Emery.

It does not look like Hazard wishes to leave Real Madrid though and still seems to hold hope that his situation at the club will change. As reported by AS, he said in a press conference:

"“I don’t want to leave Madrid. Maybe things will change after the World Cup. I want to play, but it is the coach who makes his choices. I accept it, but I want to show him that I deserve to play more. When you don’t play, it’s difficult.”"

While Hazard might not want to leave, it is safe to say that him continuing to sit on the bench is not helpful for either the club or him.

When the club signed him, the Belgian arrived with a lot of expectations. But three years of constant injury problems have meant that not only has he lost his form and rhythm, but he has lost his place in the team as well, something that he had never really nailed down in the first place to be honest.

While his Real Madrid future hangs in the air, Hazard’s focus will be somewhere else for the next month or so though, as he is set to captain the Belgian national team at the World Cup and they are one of the favourites to win it all. A good performance in Qatar might open up a lot of opportunities for him at club level as well.
