While Real Madrid were linked with a potential move for Erling Haaland earlier in the year, the rumours ultimately led nowhere. The Norwegian superstar would leave Borussia Dortmund to join Manchester City, and what a move it has turned out to be. He has taken the Premier League by storm and if the 22-year-old can remain fit, he is expected to break a number of all-time records.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haaland has scored 23 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 appearances this season across all competitions. 18 of those goals have come in 13 Premier League games.

Frankly, nobody has ever dominated the English top flight immediately after arriving like he has, although, Manchester City still find themselves trailing Arsenal by five points. Mikel Arteta’s side have been in inspired form this season.

As reported by AS, Real Madrid have their eyes on a potential move for Haaland in 2024. It is believed that a release clause will become active in his Manchester City deal that summer for foreign clubs.

Can Real Madrid sign Haaland in the summer of 2024 from Manchester City?

A lot will depend on how Haaland’s time at Manchester City goes for the upcoming two campaigns. There do not seem to be any fears about his levels dropping though.

Haaland is a very special talent, there is no doubt about that. If he does not end up winning the Ballon d’Or someday, it would be considered as a major disappointment. But then, nobody knows how things will turn out in football. There were similar expectations from Neymar as well, but he has never reached those heights.

The only issue with Haaland is that he does seem to pick up niggling injuries. Hopefully, that will improve with time as he enters his physical prime. It is easy to forget but the Norwegian is still just 22 years of age.

Real Madrid will need to add to their forward ranks before 2024 though. Karim Benzema is set to turn 35 years of age and has been struggling with constant fitness issues throughout this campaign. The only other recognised striker in the squad is Mariano Diaz, who does not seem to be in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and his current deal runs out at the end of this season as well.
