Real Madrid have a squad filled with veterans, youngsters and those in their primes, which gives them a great balance, setting them up for the present as well as a bright future. At the same time though, the futures of a lot of players appear to be up in the air at this point of time. One of them is Nacho Fernandez.

Nacho came through the club’s youth system and has spent his entire career at Real Madrid. He has never really been able to establish himself as a starter with Los Blancos, but he did have a significant role to play off the bench.

That has changed in recent times though, following the arrival of Antonio Rudiger in the summer. The German defender has become the part of a rotation with David Alaba and Eder Militao – three world-class centre-backs – and it has resulted in Nacho getting lost in the shuffle.

His current deal with the club runs out at the end of the season. But as reported by SPORT (via Football Espana), Nacho has not entered into renewal talks. Due to his lack of game time, he is considering leaving the club.

Real Madrid veteran could end up leaving the club next summer

If Nacho did end up leaving Real Madrid, then it would be a blow for the club. He is the only ‘One Club Man’ in the current squad.

At the same time though, it is not hard to understand why the Spaniard might be considering his future. He has been happy enough to play a role off the bench over the years but now, he has fallen further down the pecking order.

Also, at 32 years of age, it might be the last proper chance for him to make a move and try a different league, before hanging up his boots.
