Rafael Leao’s father comments on Real Madrid links
Rafael Leao is a man in demand. The Portuguese star has made a name for himself at AC Milan and helped them win the Serie A title after eleven years last season. In the process, he was also named as the MVP. Thus, it should not come as a major surprise that clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are being linked with a potential move for him in the future.
Chelsea were rumoured to have an interest in him back in the summer itself, when Thomas Tuchel was still their manager. On the other hand, the links with Real Madrid and Barcelona are more recent.
Leao has been enjoying a good start to the season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists in 20 appearances for AC Milan this season till now.
As reported by Marca, commenting on the future of his son in an interview with Record, Antonio Leao said:
"“We are negotiating with Milan, because Rafa has a contract that expires in 2024.“There is still time before 2024, and we will deal with everything. From Real Madrid, Barcelona or Chelsea.”"

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Leao at AC Milan. His current deal with the Italian giants is believed to be running out in the summer of 2024.
Thus, AC Milan do not have a lot of time on their hands to find Leao a new club, if they are unable to agree a contract extension with him. It is believed that they would want a transfer fee in the region of €100 million but next summer, only one year would be remaining on the Portuguese star’s deal with the club.
As a result, it might be difficult to command that kind of a figure then, unless Leao decides to extend his contract with the Italian champions.
If Real Madrid do end up signing Leao, it would be interesting to see where they would fit him into the team, as he plays a similar role to that of Vinicius Jr.
