Erling Haaland might have joined Manchester City just this summer but he has already been in the middle of a whirlwind of rumours about his future. There have been suggestions that there is a release clause in his deal with the Citizens, which is rumoured to become active for foreign clubs in the summer of 2024. Naturally, Real Madrid are one of the clubs who have been linked with a potential move for him.
Real Madrid were rumoured to have an interest in Haaland when he left Borussia Dortmund as well, but with Karim Benzema in the squad, it never felt like the club made a proper push for him while the competition with the Frenchman might not have been attractive for the Norwegian either.
He has taken the Premier League by storm though and dominated it like nobody has been able to do in the past. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the rumour mill has gone into overdrive already.
As reported by Marca, when asked about the release clause, Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, said:
"“You have to do it and it is very interesting. If we don’t say anything, surely something is interpreted and if we say something, too. As a lawyer I know that I can’t say anything, but I also know that if I don’t say it, they will say it.”"

Thus, she pretty much ended up giving a bit of a non answer but at the end of the day, she did not deny it either. Make of that what you will.
The fact of the matter is that if there was indeed a release clause in Haaland’s deal with Manchester City, then there should not be a lack of suitors when it activates.
The only question surrounding Haaland is his fitness. He had quite a few injuries during his time at Borussia Dortmund and has faced his issues at Manchester City as well. One would hope that they do not end up being a problem throughout his career though, because the Norwegian is a supreme talent and if he can remain fit, he can very well turn out to be the best player of his generation.
