Real Madrid might need to make some additions to their defence in the near future. There are question marks over the future of Nacho Fernandez, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season. Both Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are over 30, while Alvaro Odriozola is expected to leave soon. And perhaps most surprisingly, some rumours have suggested that Los Blancos have doubts over Ferland Mendy as well.
All things considered, Real Madrid might consider a shake up of their back line, which to be honest, has not been the strongest part of the team this season, as they have struggled to keep clean sheets.
One player who appears to be in their sights is Benjamin Pavard, who could be on his way out of Bayern Munich soon. Barcelona are also chasing the French World Cup winner though.
As reported by SPORT, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have contacted his environment as it is a good opportunity.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in the Bayern Munich defender
Perhaps the biggest strength of Pavard is the fact that he is very versatile and can play both as a right-back and as a centre-back with equal ease.
At the same time, he has some top level experience as well, having won the World Cup with France and represented a club like Bayern Munich for several years as well.
Pavard is still just 26 years of age though and as a result, he is only entering his prime as a footballer. Thus, if Real Madrid are able to sign him, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of the club.
The Frenchman’s current deal with Bayern Munich is believed to run out in the summer of 2024 which means that he could be available on a bargain deal as well.
