Real Madrid find themselves in need of reinforcements up front, as Karim Benzema has struggled badly with injuries this season. He might be the current Ballon d’Or holder, but this campaign has been a bit of a nightmare for him, with the latest blow seeing him ruled out of the World Cup after picking an injury while training with the France national team. Incidentally, around the same time, a certain Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a blockbuster return to Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo’s Manchester United career looks as good as over, following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Rumours have conveniently broken out that Ronaldo is open to six month move to Real Madrid, which on paper, could make sense for all parties involved. Yet, it does not look like that is an option being considered by the European champions.

As reported by Football Espana, Fabrizio Romano stated in his exclusive column for Caught Offside that a deal is not being considered by Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has a desire for building for the future and has hinted at being reluctant in making signings in the middle of the season.

Update on the situation involving Ronaldo and Real Madrid

While it is not hard to understand the attraction behind a move for Ronaldo, to bring him back to the club where he achieved his greatest successes and did not actually get a proper send off.

But at the same time, this does not feel like the right time to sign Ronaldo, considering how the last few years have turned out for him.

This has been Ronaldo’s worst season by far. Also, there are question marks over the effect he has on teams at this stage of his career, considering both Juventus and Manchester United have taken steps back since his arrival.

At the end of the day, Ronaldo will always be a Real Madrid legend and one of the greatest in history. But not making a move for him might be best for all parties involved.
