Real Madrid make surprise January transfer decision
Real Madrid find themselves in a difficult position right now. They saw the side struggle for results leading up to the World Cup break, as it felt like the gruelling schedule had finally caught up to Carlo Ancelotti’s men. As a result, Barcelona ended up taking a two point lead over Los Blancos, despite having lost the El Clasico less than a month ago in convincing fashion.
Most fans believe that Real Madrid need to make some reinforcements to their squad in the January transfer window if they are to compete for all three titles this season.
One area that needs immediate attention is striker. Karim Benzema has struggled badly with fitness issues throughout the season and saw his World Cup hopes evaporate, as he was ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury in training with the France national team.
Yet, as reported by Marca, Real Madrid is not considering signing a number nine in the January transfer window. They didn’t do it before Benzema’s injury, nor do they do it now. The club have absolute confidence towards the French striker.
Real Madrid make surprise January transfer decision despite Benzema’s injury struggles
There have been several rumours floating around in the media which have suggested that Real Madrid will have an eye on the World Cup with the intention of identifying another striker amid Benzema’s struggles.
But it looks like that might not be the case after all, and instead, Real Madrid are happy enough with the options that they have going forward.
In the absence of Benzema, Rodrygo has often been deployed in a forward role and while the Brazilian has done a decent job at it, it is pretty clear that he is not ready to lead the line for Real Madrid at this point of time. Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised striker in the squad.
