It is clear by now that Real Madrid made a big mistake when they shattered their transfer record to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea. Back then, the move had made the world of sense. The Belgian had established himself as a Premier League legend during his seven years at Stamford Bridge and had the star power to be the face of Los Blancos, who had just seen Cristiano Ronaldo leave the summer before.

Hazard might have gotten the number 7 jersey, but he has come nowhere near emulating the Portuguese superstar.

Hazard’s time at Real Madrid has been riddled with injuries to the point where he now finds himself as the last choice winger in the squad. That is quite the downfall for a player who was considered one of the best in the world back in 2019. But that’s how quickly things can change in football.

Real Madrid are believed to be looking to find Hazard a new club so that they can get his astronomical wages off the books and also receive a transfer fee out of his exit, rather than see him walk out as a free agent when his contract runs out. Newcastle United might be interested in a move, but only on their terms.

Newcastle United make Hazard transfer decision as Real Madrid look for new club

As reported by El Nacional, Newcastle United are only willing to offer a transfer fee around €10 million for Hazard, considering his age, his worrying injury history, and the fact that his contract ends in 2024.

Of course, if Real Madrid allow him to leave for something around that, it would not even come close to what they shelled out to sign Hazard from Chelsea, which was north of €100 million.

Yet, the move does make sense for all parties, considering the fact that Hazard is barely playing at Real Madrid right now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 6 appearances and played 229 minutes of football this season, scoring and assisting once each.

At the end of the day, a €10 million fee would be better than nothing, and then you have to take into consideration the kind of wages Hazard is getting at Real Madrid. Let’s see if Newcastle United end up making a move or not though.
