4. Alphonso Davies (Canada)

Another possible long-term prospect for Real Madrid. But even generally, Davies leading Canada out on the field in a very tough group is something that is exciting. As such, he has been one of the very few non-forwards or attacking midfielders in Europe to have caught that kind of attention over the span of the past few seasons.

Normally, the Canadian team are used to playing some very vertical and direct football which Davies fits perfectly into. However in a group also consisting the likes of Belgium and Croatia, one must lower their expectations.

It is unlikely that they make it out of Group F but Davies’ qualities will likely be instrumental to any good that does come off of Canada’s campaign.

On the other side of the World Cup, Real Madrid’s search for a suitable left-back will continue. It is  unlikely that any signings will be made in January but a future attempt to lure Davies away from Bayern Munich cannot be ruled out. Ferland Mendy is more or less a reliable, efficient and consistent player but is not the best going forward. The Canadian star fits into that role and to see him don the royal white someday would fulfil the dreams of many.

5. Jeremy Doku (Belgium)

Last and definitely not the least, Belgium’s flashy Jeremy Doku. The Rennes man is just one of the many top players coming out of the French team in recent seasons. The winger of Ghanaian descent started off in the Anderlecht academy before moving to France in 2020. He first burst onto the scene at last year’s European Championships, most notably playing as an attacking-midfielder against Finland and Italy. Starting out on either one of the flanks is what comes most naturally to him but he can perform most roles in an attacking sense.

His versatility is what makes him such a force off the bench for Roberto Martinez’s side. Doku’s got excellent control in tight spaces, good feet and his spatial awareness is supreme. Although he hasn’t challenged for a starting role at Rennes ever since, his performances at last year’s Euros still excite fans for the kind of potential he holds even with the bleak possibility of playing much in Qatar.

Real Madrid haven’t yet been linked to Doku’s name but he is a player we reckon will do enough in the coming years to one day be linked to Los Blancos.
