Real Madrid have a history of signing high profile players after the World Cup. They did so with Mesut Ozil in 2010, Toni Kroos in 2014 and Thibaut Courtois in 2018. All of them had had standout tournaments that time around. Now, it remains to be seen if Los Blancos will do the same after this edition of the competition as well, although it is expected to be much more difficult to make signings in the middle of the club season.
One area that Real Madrid might need to improve at soon is right-back. Dani Carvajal has had a legendary career at Santiago Bernabeu but he is 30 years of age, while his cover option in Lucas Vazquez is even older than him.
The club do have a youngster in Alvaro Odriozola, but he does not seem to have a future in the Royal White jersey and is expected to be on his way out soon. So, they could do with another right-back.
As reported by SPORT, Real Madrid will have an eye on Diogo Dalot. He is representing Portugal at the World Cup. His current deal with Manchester United runs out next summer although the club do have the option to extend it for another year.
Real Madrid have eye on Manchester United player at the World Cup
Dalot has enjoyed quite the rise at Manchester United, after he had struggled for playing time during the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Dalot even spent time on loan at AC Milan and it had looked like it was almost certain that he would leave Manchester United permanently, before Solskjaer was shown the exit door.
Since then though, Dalot has enjoyed regular playing time, first during the time of Ralf Rangnick and now, under the management of Erik ten Hag. He has impressed as well and could be a solid addition for Real Madrid, if they can get a deal done.
