Following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United decided to part ways and the Portuguese superstar is available as a free agent. On the other hand, Real Madrid have had their injury troubles with Karim Benzema this season, with the latest one ruling the Frenchman out of the World Cup.

A lot of fans have put two and two together and called for Ronaldo to be signed by Real Madrid in the January transfer window. Rumours have even suggested that the Portuguese captain, who saw his side win their World Cup opener against Ghana, would be open to a return till the end of the season.

Do Real Madrid have any interest in a reunion with Ronaldo though, at 37 years of age and past his prime? It does not look like the case.

As reported by AS, at Real Madrid, a return for Ronaldo has not been and will not be considered. They have ruled out a move for the club legend.

Real Madrid have made Ronaldo transfer decision

It is safe to say that things have not worked out for Ronaldo this season. While he had not been a nailed on starter under the management of Erik ten Hag, he did play quite a bit of football though.

He was unimpressive during those appearances, while Manchester United performed better without him on the pitch. Thus, the manager cannot really be blamed for not starting Ronaldo often.

Also, at this point of time, it might be best for both Real Madrid and Ronaldo to not reunite. He is arguably the greatest player in the history of the club, but we have seen with his second spell at Manchester United, how great legacies can be tarnished. Thus, it might be better that this one is left untouched.
