There have been conflicting rumours surrounding Real Madrid heading into the January transfer window. Some have claimed that the club are ready to strengthen in order to make sure that they can compete on all three fronts. On the other hand, others have suggested that Los Blancos will stick with the squad that they have despite a lack of depth and injury problems in recent times.

It will be interesting to see what the club will ultimately do in that regard. Amidst the current links with Jude Bellingham, one thing that not many fans would have expected though was seeing Real Madrid being linked with another midfielder.

The club already have arguably the best midfield in Europe. But at the same time, it might have to undergo some changes over the coming years. Luka Modric is 37 while Toni Kroos is believed to be considering retirement at the end of this season. Dani Ceballos could be on his way out soon as well, with his contract running out next summer.

And as tweeted out by Santi Aouna, Real Madrid have inquired with Napoli about Stanislav Lobotka. He appears to be rated at a transfer value of around €70 million.

Real Madrid have enquired about Napoli midfielder

It is safe to say that Lobotka has risen to prominence in recent times, as a regular in the middle of the park for high flying Napoli.

Napoli are currently sitting at the top of the Serie A table and also topped what was a difficult group in the Champions League alongside Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers.

Lobotka has past experience of Spanish football as well, having played for Celta Vigo. But despite all of that, it is hard to see Real Madrid shelling out a transfer fee anywhere near €70 million in order to sign the Slovakian defensive midfielder.
