Barcelona are a club in an interesting position right now. In La Liga, they find themselves at top, two points ahead of Real Madrid, and have been able to outplay the majority of the opposition in the league. But when it comes to top opposition, the Catalan giants have seemed pretty ineffective.

They lost the El Clasico at Santiago Bernabeu pretty convincingly against Real Madrid. On the other hand, they failed to win a single game out of the four that they faced Inter Milan and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, losing three and drawing once against the Italian giants. As a result, they dropped down into the Europa League.

Thus, it is clear that there is room for Barcelona to improve and it appears that they have set their sights on a Real Madrid target in order to do that.

The player in question is none other than Endrick, who is being hyped as the biggest talent to come out of Brazilian football since Neymar. As reported by ESPN, Xavi said:

"“We have been speaking with his father and also directly with the player. I explained the project we have in Barcelona. We want talent and he is a talent, capable of making a difference. He has the goal, he has the dribble, he has a brutal ability to make the difference.”"

Xavi admits that Barcelona are trying to sign Real Madrid target

Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea are believed to be the frontrunners in the race to sign Endrick. But it looks like Barcelona will be looking to make their presence felt as well. The Brazilian wonderkid currently plays for Palmeiras and is believed to have a release clause set at around €60 million.

It is safe to say that Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world. But they have faced several financial issues in recent years. Thus, it is hard to see them shelling out a large transfer fee in order to sign a 16-year-old at the moment.

But stranger things have happened in football. So let’s see what the future holds for Endrick and where he ends up when he leaves Palmeiras.
