Real Madrid have a number of highly-rated youngsters on their books right now, who can go on to be the future of the club for the next decade to come. One such player is Eduardo Camavinga. The Frenchman arrived at Santiago Bernabeu last summer from Rennes and went on to play a key role in their Champions League triumph, albeit most of his displays being cameos off the bench.

The expectation was that he would take the next step this season and end up getting more playing time. That has not happened.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Camavinga has played 730 minutes of football for Real Madrid this season over 20 appearances across all competitions till now. He has made only 7 starts.

Thus, it is safe to say that Camavinga is not playing as much as he or the fans would have hoped, and that has led to rumours of him being sent out on loan in January, or potentially even being included in a deal to bring Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid.

It is safe to say that Camavinga himself is not satisfied with being left on the bench, although it does not look like he is being impatient about the situation and pushing for an exit. As reported by GOAL, he said:

"“Of course I would like to play every game. There is a reality at Real Madrid: there are good players ahead of me.“I can’t say I like it because being on the bench is not pleasant either. You have to be patient.”"

While Camavinga has not taken a step forward this season, like many had expected after his promising cameos in the previous campaign, the fact of the matter is that he turned 20 years of age just this month.

There are not a lot of 20 year olds on the planet who could get ahead of the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Aurelien Tchouameni in the middle of the park.

So, for Camavinga, it might be about staying patient and continuing to learn from legends like Kroos and Modric, so that when his chance comes, he is ready to take it.
