Real Madrid are believed to be keeping their eyes on the World Cup in search of potential signings for the future. The club have a storied history of using the tournament for scouting and have discovered some of their best ever players through it. This time around, the situation is a bit different though, considering it is being played in the winter.

It will be much more difficult to convince clubs to let go of their players in the January transfer window, after the World Cup ends, and it would require higher transfer fees to get deals done.

On the other hand, Carlo Ancelotti has stated in the past that he is happy with his current squad. And with all of those factors combined, now it looks like Real Madrid have no immediate plans to make any signings in the January transfer window.

As reported by Football Espana, Fabrizio Romano revealed in his column with Caught Offside:

"“I don’t see Real Madrid signing any player in January, if not future targets like Endrick. They stated in public and confirm in private that they want to continue with the same squad. We will see in the summer or in the future.”"

Transfer expert reveals Real Madrid’s plans for the upcoming January transfer window

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Real Madrid when it comes to their squad, which is not the deepest by any stretch of the imagination.

In fact, it looked like injuries and fatigue had caught up with them in the weeks leading up to the World Cup break, as they struggled to win games and the break might have actually come at an ideal time for them.

If Real Madrid go into the second half of the season with the same squad as well, it would leave them open to potentially suffering further downturns in form as the campaign progresses.

Thus, fans would have been hoping that Los Blancos would reinforce the squad in January but at the moment, it does not look like that is in the plans.
