Real Madrid have a number of top players in their squad right now. As a result of it, it is only natural that not everyone is getting the amount of playing time that they might feel that they deserve. Thus, it will be very interesting to see if the club can hold onto the core of their squad, considering the sheer number of contracts running out at the end of this ongoing campaign.
One of the players who has not played a lot of football this season is Real Madrid veteran Nacho Fernandez.
While Nacho has never been able to nail down a starting spot at the club, he has always had a role to play in the team. He has seen himself slip further down the pecking order though, since the arrival of Antonio Rudiger in the summer. The club now have the German international, alongside David Alaba and Eder Militao, as three world-class options at centre-back.
As reported by Marca, Nacho has stopped his renewal with Real Madrid. He has an offer on the table to extend his stay at the club by another year but he has decided to wait and see how things evolve moving forward, as he is not happy with his role in the team right now.
Real Madrid star is not happy with his role and might leave
Nacho has spent his entire career at Real Madrid, having come through the youth ranks of the club and never even went out on loan.
He is 32 years of age though and if he does want to leave, then this might very well be the last chance for him.
Considering the fact that he is not playing a lot at the moment, it is not hard to understand why Nacho might be considering an exit. Wolves are a club who have been linked with recently.
