AS Roma hold first talks to sign Real Madrid player

Real Madrid do not have the deepest squad but even then, there are a number of players who have struggled to get any regular playing time in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. As a result, it might be the best step for all parties involved to move away in the near future, and the January transfer window provides an opportunity to do that.

One of the players who does not seem to feature in Ancelotti’s plans at all is Alvaro Odriozola, who has not played a single minute of football this season.

Dani Carvajal is the starting right-back for Real Madrid, but he is 30 years of age. On the other hand, his cover option, Lucas Vazquez, is 31. Thus, the team could do with some youth in that area. But it does not look like Odriozola will be the guy to provide that.

As tweeted out by Nicolo Schira, Odriozola could leave Real Madrid in January and AS Roma are interested in him. Positive first talks have been held with the intermediary of the deal.

It might be the best step forward for Odriozola to leave Real Madrid. He might have been very highly rated during his time at Real Sociedad but his career has stalled ever since his move to Santiago Bernabeu.

He has had a very disappointing loan spell at Bayern Munich as well. He was better while on loan at Fiorentina though, and it looks like it is in Italy where his future could lie.

AS Roma are on the lookout for a right-back in order to replace Rick Karsdorp and thus, it might be the perfect destination for Odriozola. On the other hand, the Real Madrid defender has been linked with Juventus as well. Thus, he does seem to have some options.
