While most of the recent rumours surrounding Real Madrid have been about potential signings, there are some players at the club who could do with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu. And the January transfer window might provide them with the perfect opportunity to do that, if the right offers come in.

Someone who looks to be completely out of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and has not played a single minute of football this season is Alvaro Odriozola.

He was considered as one of the brightest young talents in Spain when he broke out at Real Sociedad but a move to Real Madrid has proven to be a mistake. He did have a decent loan spell at Fiorentina though, and it looks like that has managed to catch the eye of more than one Italian club.

Juventus have already been linked with a move for Odriozola several times in the past. And now as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via RomaPress), Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Odriozola’s and also shares a good relationship with the player’s agent. As a result, AS Roma are in talks with Real Madrid for a loan with option to buy set at around €10 million.

Odriozola might have arrived at Real Madrid with a lot of potential, but at this point, it does not look like it is going to work out for him.

His current deal with Real Madrid runs out in the summer of 2024 and thus, if AS Roma do come in with that kind of an offer for a player who has not played a minute during this campaign, Los Blancos must definitely consider it.

He is 26 years of age as well and needs to be playing regular football at this stage of his career. Thus, a transfer exit might make sense for all parties involved.
