Right-back is an area where Real Madrid could do with more reinforcements in in the near future. The club do have Dani Carvajal, who has been the starter there for a long time. But he is 30 years of age and some questions have been raised about his recent form as well. His back up option is Lucas Vazquez, who is even older at 31.

Thus, the club could do with some more youth in that area of the pitch, especially with Alvaro Odriozola looking set to leave the club soon, with the likes of Juventus and AS Roma being linked with him in recent times.

One of the best young right-backs in the world right now is Jeremie Frimpong. Having made a name for himself at Celtic, the Dutch youngster moved to Bayer Leverkusen and he has been a revelation in the Bundesliga. The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with him in recent times.

But as reported by Defensa Central (via Caught Offside), Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Frimpong.

Frimpong has been included in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad as well although Denzel Dumfries has kept him out of the starting XI.

There is zero question about his potential though and if he can continue to develop at this rate, he can be one of the best right-backs in the world in the not too distant future. It is worth remembering that he is still just 21 years of age and already making such a mark.

Let’s see what the future holds for him and whether Real Madrid are able to sign him or not. If they do, it would be a major coup. If they don’t, Frimpong seems destined to end up at a massive club regardless.
