Real Madrid’s squad could look very different come next season considering how many players’ contracts are running out at the end of the ongoing campaign. Hopefully, some of them will stay, while some others might be on their way out after struggling to get regular playing time in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. One player whose future is up in the air is Nacho Fernandez.

Nacho has come through the Real Madrid youth system and gone on to have a great career at the club. He has never even been out of loan and is a true ‘One Club Man’. That status could change in the future though, as it looks like he is considering his next step, with his current deal running out at the end of the season.

Rumours have suggested that Real Madrid want to hand him a one year extension but Nacho is unsure about signing a new deal, considering his lack of playing time at the club recently, as he has seen himself slip further down the pecking order following the arrival of Antonio Rudiger in the summer.

There would not be any lack of interest if Nacho did leave though. Wolves, who have former Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui as their manager now, have been linked with him. He has also been linked with a move to Italy or the MLS. Now, it looks like another English club has joined the mix.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Aston Villa are paying attention to Nacho. Unai Emery is their coach and he has always liked the player.

At 32 years of age, if Nacho does want to try a different experience, this might be one of his last chances to do so. And the fact that he is not getting much playing time at Real Madrid might help him make his mind.

He has had a long career at Real Madrid and according to stats from Transfermarkt, made 286 appearances for the club till now. Is now the time for Nacho to make a change or should he stay put at Santiago Bernabeu?
