Eden Hazard’s time at Real Madrid has been an absolute nightmare. A superstar at Chelsea, Los Blancos broke their transfer record to bring the Belgian to Santiago Bernabeu but it is pretty clear that that was a mistake. He has struggled with a series of injuries over the past three-and-a-half years and looks like a shell of the player that he was in his prime.

This World Cup was seen by many as Hazard’s last chance to show that he could still perform at a high level. It provided proof to the contrary though, as he had lost his place in the starting XI by the last group game and Belgium failed to even make the knockout stages of the competition.

Hazard has since gone on to announce his retirement from international football and one has to feel that his time at Real Madrid will come to a close soon as well.

As reported by L’Equipe (via Mundo Deportivo), Hazard seriously considers his departure from Real Madrid when the current season comes to an end and one of the destinations that attracts him the most is the MLS.

Hazard has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for a while now as it has become clear that he is not a big part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

In fact, he might very well be the last choice winger at the club at this point of time and thus, the Belgian should definitely be considering an exit.

Most of the rumours surrounding him have been about a move back to the Premier League though, with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United rumoured to hold an interest. A return to Chelsea has never been completely ruled out either although that feels unlikely.

Italian clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan have been linked with Hazard in recent weeks as well. But now, it looks like it is very possible that he could say goodbye to European football altogether and move to the MLS. Not many people would have expected that, considering the Belgian is still just 31 years of age.
