Rumours broke out recently that Brazil have their eyes on Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, for the national team job, with Tite stepping down following their quarter-final exit from the World Cup. Then reports came out in the Spanish media though that the Italian manager had no interest in leaving Santiago Bernabeu anytime soon. And yet, it does not look like he has closed the door on it completely.
Brazil went into this World Cup as the favourites to win it all and yet, they are coming back empty handed and did not even make the semis. It is not for a lack of quality in their squad though because they arguably have the most talented team on the planet right now.
Their last World Cup triumph came back in 2002. Thus, it is not hard to see why they might be interested in bringing in a top manager like Ancelotti in hopes that he can be the one to finally guide them to their 6th world title.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Mundo Deportivo), Ancelotti would agree to be the coach of Brazil but from June 2024.
Real Madrid boss would coach Brazil but only on one condition
Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid runs till the summer of 2024 and it looks like he is not ready to leave the Spanish capital before that. There have been some suggestions that he could retire after his second stint with the club but now it looks like there is a possibility that the Italian might take the Brazilian national team job if it is presented to him in 2024.
Ancelotti has achieved everything that there is to achieve as a manager at the club level multiple times over. He has never managed an international team though.
Thus, there might be an attraction towards managing a national team like Brazil before he retires from management altogether.
