It looks like midfield is an area that Real Madrid are looking to bring reinforcements in in the near future. It is not hard to understand why either considering the fact that Luka Modric is 37 years of age while Toni Kroos is rumoured to be considering retirement as well. Dani Ceballos could be on his way out of the club soon, while some people have been disappointed with Eduardo Camavinga this season after what was an excellent debut campaign last time around.
Real Madrid’s two main targets to strengthen their midfield seem to be Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez, and either of the two could prove to be an excellent addition to the squad.
It is not going to be easy though. It might take a transfer fee of €150 million to sign Bellingham and even then, clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are also believed to be interested. On the other hand, it might take a figure north of €100 million to sign Fernandez as well, as he is shining with Argentina at the World Cup.
Thus, it would make sense for Real Madrid to have back up targets, and it looks like they have one in the form of Juventus midfielder, Manuel Locatelli.
Real Madrid are interested in Juventus midfielder amid Bellingham and Fernandez rumours
As reported by Defensa Central (via The Hard Tackle), Locatelli has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid. Los Blancos consider the Italian midfielder as a backup target to Bellingham and Fernandez in the next summer transfer window.
Locatelli came through the youth ranks at AC Milan but was never quite able to flourish there. Instead, he enjoyed his rise at Sassuolo and caught the eye of Europe with his performances at UEFA EURO 2020, as Italy went on to win the tournament.
Since then, he has moved to Juventus and been a regular for the Turin-based club as well. And someone of his quality is an excellent back up target to have.
