Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Endrick from Palmeiras. The Brazilian wonderkid is still just 16 years of age though and he will be moving to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2024 when he turns 18. It is believed that the entire package is worth around €72 million including add-ons and taxes.
That immediately makes Endrick one of the most expensive signings in the history of the game and pretty much in his own category when it comes to players who are just 16 years of age.
At the end of the day though, he is viewed by many as a can’t miss prospect. The Palmeiras youngster has earned comparisons to the great Ronaldo Nazario already, while at the same time, he is considered as the biggest talent to come out of Brazilian football since Neymar Jr. Thus, there is a possibility that he could turn out to be a once in a generation player.
Endrick’s start at the senior level has been impressive as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided an assist in 7 appearances and 306 minutes of football. Also, Real Madrid won the race to sign him ahead of Chelsea and PSG, both of whom were also believed to be willing to shell out blockbuster transfer fees to sign him, which goes on to show the demand that there was for the 16-year-old’s signature.
There is a lot of risk involved in the Endrick to Real Madrid move as well
There is no doubt that Endrick is one of the most highly rated teenagers in the history of the game. But at the same time, one simply cannot overlook the risks involved with this move as well.
Real Madrid are shelling out a €72 million transfer package to sign a player who is just 16 years of age, and who knows how his senior career will go and how he will adjust to the European game.
There have been several wonderkids over the years whose careers have not gone as people had hoped and predicted.
All things considered though, there is a lot more to be excited about than worried when it comes to the signing of Endrick.
