Real Madrid face a bit of a problem right now when it comes to Karim Benzema. The Frenchman might be the Ballon d’Or holder, but this season, he has struggled with one injury after another. One such injury, suffered while training with the France national team ahead of the World Cup, led to him having to pull out of their camp and he has missed the tournament.

France have still managed to make it to the final though, which goes on to show the depth of their talent pool at the moment. They won the World Cup back in 2018 as well.

Interestingly, Benzema is still part of their 26-man squad and was never officially removed from it by Didier Deschamps. Thus, he will be receiving a World Cup medal, whether that be gold or silver. He has started to train normally by now and some rumours had even emerged that he could be in Qatar for the final.

But as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Benzema does not contemplate going to the final between France and Argentina even though Real Madrid would not pose any problem.

Real Madrid superstar has made World Cup final decision

It is believed that the situation would have to change a lot for Benzema to change his mind and attend the World Cup final.

Right now, he is training with Real Madrid and seems to be focused on having a solid second half of the season, after struggling with fitness issues till the World Cup break.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made just 12 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing an assist in the process of doing so.

That is quite some way from the form that earned him the Ballon d’Or and with Real Madrid not having any proper back up for him up top, they will surely be hoping that the French superstar rediscovers form and fitness in the second half of the season.
