Real Madrid and Barcelona find themselves in a tight title race, and it is the Catalan side who are leading by a couple of points at the moment despite the fact that they lost the first El Clasico of the season quite convincingly by a 3-1 scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu. Back then, Xavi found himself under some significant pressure, especially with the club being knocked out of the Champions League group stage for the second season running as well.

Things turned around quickly though as Real Madrid ended up hitting a rough patch of form and that allowed Barcelona to sneak ahead of them in the La Liga title race.

It is far from over though, and there is a lot of football left to be played this season. And one area where Real Madrid will have a huge advantage is the experience gap between the managers of the two clubs – Carlo Ancelotti and Xavi.

It was not too long ago that Xavi was playing for Barcelona himself, it looks like former Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez, is someone that he wanted on his team.

As reported by MARCA, while speaking in an interview with content team of LaLiga Golazos about James, Xavi lamented because “he played at Real Madrid CF and not at FC Barcelona.”

James first rose to fame during the 2014 World Cup, as he was one of the standout players in Brazil and that would earn him a big money move to Real Madrid.

He went on to have a very solid start to life in the Royal White jersey as well but his career would soon fade away, following the departure of Ancelotti as manager the first time around. And he never ended up rediscovering his mojo again.
