The 2022 World Cup is in the books. Argentina have been crowned champions at the end of arguably the most exciting final in history, which saw Kylian Mbappe score a hattrick while Lionel Messi struck twice. The game was ultimately decided on penalties, and France fell short at the end. Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni was one of the players to miss from the spot.

Now, it is time to return to club football, even though it might feel odd to do so, after the completion of the World Cup. But that’s down to it being held in the winter this time around.

Coming back to the matter of Real Madrid, the club still have three titles to play for. They are trailing Barcelona by two points and cannot afford to make a slow start. Amidst all this, it looks like Carlo Ancelotti has some concerns about his squad as well.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Ancelotti is concerned about Luka Modric and Tchouameni. The reason for the concern of the Real Madrid boss is the physical wear and tear that these two have had at the World Cup.

Tchouameni made it all the way to the final with France, before failing to get past the final hurdle. He was a regular starter for Les Bleus though and has had to play a lot of football over the last month.

On the other hand, Modric managed to guide the Croatian national team to another medal, by finishing third this time around. In 2018, they were the runners up.

Thus, it is safe to say that both of them have had to play quite a bit of football in recent times and will need some rest after such a long tournament. They are two of Real Madrid’s most important players though. Thus, the duo being absent is expected to have a negative impact on the team and leave the midfield weaker than usual.
