Real Madrid star could make surprise appearance vs Real Valladolid

The World Cup is over, with Argentina being crowned champions. That also means though that club football is set to make its return soon and Real Madrid will be taking on Real Valladolid in their return to action on December 30. Surely, they will be looking to close out the year with a win but Carlo Ancelotti could be without some of his star players on the day, after they made deep runs at the World Cup.

Luka Modric is one such player. After reaching the final in 2018, the Croatian national team exceeded expectations once again and finished third at the World Cup. The midfield maestro played his role, despite being 37 years of age and has confirmed since then that he is not retiring from international football just yet.

On the other hand, it looks like Modric is raring to put on the Royal White jersey once again as well and appears to be targeting a potential return to action in the game vs Real Valladolid.

As reported by Tportal (via Mundo Deportivo), Modric wants to make himself available to Ancelotti to prepare the return to club competition and the Croatian’s idea would be to be ready for the match against Real Valladolid.

If Modric is back on the pitch against Real Valladolid then that would be the testament to his professionalism.

It was just a few days back that he played in the third place game at the World Cup. Just for comparison, it has only been a few days since the players who got knocked from the group stages returned to training.

At the same time though, it is also important to make sure that Modric gets enough rest after taking part in the World Cup and does not rush his return.
