A number of long-time players departed Real Madrid in the summer, as Los Blancos’ squad underwent some big changes. Amongst them was Isco, who had been with the club since 2013 and made more than 350 appearances for the Spanish giants. It was clear that he was no longer a key part of the first-team though, and parting ways was the best step for all parties involved.

Unfortunately, Isco’s post-Real Madrid career is not going as he would have hoped. It was just in August that he had joined Sevilla.

The club are not going through a great season though, and replaced Julen Lopetugui with Jorge Sampaoli in the middle of the campaign. That has not worked out well for Isco as he seemed to be out of the new manager’s plans.

As reported by Sevilla’s website, the club and Isco have agreed to the termination of the contract between them.

Isco’s run at Sevilla lasted just over four months. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process of doing so.

Thus, it is safe to say that Isco was nowhere near his best during his time in Seville, but even then, the termination of his contract after just four months does come as a surprise.

It will be very interesting to see where Isco heads next. At 30 years of age, and with his experience, the Spaniard should not have a tough time finding a new club.

Isco has spent his entire career in Spain and as a result, one would expect him to remain in La Liga. But one cannot completely rule out the possibility of him trying a different experience and moving abroad. Let’s see what the future holds for him and we can only wish him the best.
