It will be interesting to see what kind of approach Real Madrid take in the next summer transfer window. This time around, they did make a big money addition in Aurelien Tchouameni and also signed Antonio Rudiger as a free agent. But at the same time, the club let go of long-time stars like Gareth Bale, Isco, Marcelo and surprisingly, Casemiro, who completed a move to Manchester United in a deal believed to be worth around £70 million with add-ons.

The squad is not the deepest at the moment though and the club cannot afford to lost too many more players, if they are making a contribution to the first-team.

Yet, at the moment, it looks like there is one first-team starter whose future at the club is uncertain. It is Ferland Mendy.

As reported by MARCA, the non-renewal of Mendy’s contract also places the Frenchman as a possible candidate to leave in the event that a Casemiro type operation appears. His current deal is believed to run till the summer of 2025.

Real Madrid starter could potentially leave next season if the right offer arrives

Mendy has remained a key starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 17 appearances and played 1326 minutes of football this season till now.

Yet, there are question marks about what he brings to this team in the attacking phase, with it being clearly one of his weaknesses, even though he is superb defensively. At the same time, he also does have a bit of an injury history.

All these things combined, it looks like there is a question about Mendy’s long-term future at Real Madrid and if a big offer comes in, the club might considering letting him go. They will need to bring in a replacement before that though, as there is no cover for him right now.
