Most players who are just 32 years of age and playing some of the best football of their career would want to continue for as long as they can. Toni Kroos is a one of a kind player and individual though. He retired from the Germany national team last year and rumours have suggested that he is contemplating retiring from club football after this season, which would be a massive blow for Real Madrid.

Kroos is still a regular starter for Real Madrid and not just that, he has been one of the club’s best performers this season. In fact, following the departure of Casemiro, the German midfield maestro seems to have added a bit more to the defensive side of his game as well.

Thus, it is safe to assume that Real Madrid fans, players, coaches and everybody associated with the club is hoping that Kroos signs an extension and continues on playing. The German does not seem to have made his decision yet though.

As reported by MARCA, Kroos continues to weigh the pros and cons of his continuity at Real Madrid, a decision that will be delayed until next February.

Kroos continues to ponder his future at Real Madrid

The initial hope was that Kroos would use the World Cup break to come to a decision but it does not look like that has happened, and the suspense is set to continue for a couple more months.

It is believed that there is optimism that Kroos will decide to continue on and push back retirement, but nobody has taken that for granted yet.

If Kroos does end up deciding to retire then the club would need to bring in a replacement in the summer, considering the fact that they would be losing a starter. Real Madrid have been linked with players like Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernandez and Manuel Locatelli in recent weeks and months.
