Real Madrid will need to mount a bounce back of sorts in the second half of the season. Los Blancos were in poor form before the World Cup break, which saw them fall two points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race, despite the fact that the Catalan giants had lost the first El Clasico of the campaign by a 3-1 scoreline.

The World Cup break might have come at just the right time for Real Madrid though, as it had been looking like injuries and fatigue had started to take their toll on Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, which is not the deepest.

One player who has struggled for playing time despite that is Eden Hazard. The Belgian is Real Madrid’s all-time record signing but has clearly lost his form in recent years, having had to struggle with one injury after another. Is there a new ray of hope for him at Santiago Bernabeu though?

As reported by AS, Hazard has impressed the coaching staff of Real Madrid with his involvement and daily performance in Valdebebas. His plan is clear: regain Ancelotti’s trust.

The World Cup was seen by many as Hazard’s last opportunity to prove that he was still a world-class player. It went terribly wrong for him individually and his national team though.

Hazard struggled for form and despite being the captain, he was dropped to the bench in the all-important final group game against Croatia. Belgium could not even make it to the last 16 of the competition despite entering it as the 2nd ranked team in the world.

Hazard has only 18 months left on his current deal with Real Madrid but is expected to be his way out next summer. Could he change his own destiny though and win a place in Ancelotti’s plans in the second half of the season?
