It is pretty clear that Real Madrid need to add to their options up front in the future. Karim Benzema might be the reigning Ballon d’Or winner but we have seen him struggle to remain fit this season and he has missed a lot of games. Also at 35 years of age, the Frenchman is entering the twilight of his playing career.

On the other hand, Real Madrid do not seem to have any real back up options for Benzema either. Mariano Diaz is the only other recognised forward in the squad but he has struggled to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s team and is expected to be on his way out in the summer when his contract runs out.

One of the fastest rising strikers in the game at the moment is Julian Alvarez of Manchester City, who had an exceptional World Cup and led Argentina to triumph.

He has been on great form for Manchester City as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Alvarez has scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 20 appearances for the Citizens, while playing just 890 minutes of football.

Alvarez tipped to join Real Madrid someday

As reported by MARCA, his first coach in his hometown of Calchin, Rafael Varas, has pointed out in an interview with Sebastian Srur on the Argentine station Radio Continental:

"“I believe that at any time he can wear the Real Madrid shirt.”"

It is safe to say that Alvarez is a phenomenal talent and he is definitely good enough to wear the Real Madrid shirt. In fact, he is believed to have been on trial with Los Blancos at 11 years of age in a summer tournament.

Let’s see what the future holds for Alvarez, but it is hard to see Manchester City let go of their star Argentine forward any time soon. He is still just 22 years of age though and has a long career ahead of him.
