Real Madrid have been linked with a long list of players over the course of the past several weeks and months, and Enzo Fernandez’s name has been doing the rounds of the rumour mill constantly. The Argentine’s star has skyrocketed following his incredible World Cup campaign, as he helped his national team to glory and bagged the Young Player of the Tournament for his performances as well.

Naturally, it has raised the interest of clubs around Europe and Real Madrid seem to be one of the teams keeping an eye out on the Argentine youngster.

He is not the only midfielder that Real Madrid have been linked with in recent times though. Jude Bellingham is rumoured to be the club’s transfer priority for the upcoming summer transfer window.

And as reported by MARCA, Real Madrid have placed Fernandez on their radar in the event that they fail to land Bellingham in the summer. Thus, it looks like the club will only make a move for the Argentine if they are unable to bring the Englishman to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have made Fernandez decision as Bellingham remains top target

There is no doubt that Bellingham is a generational talent and signing him would be considered as a major coup for any club in Europe right now.

At the same time though, Fernandez has proven himself to be a top-class player at the World Cup as well.

He started the tournament as an option to bring off the bench for Lionel Scaloni but after the first two games, he had played his way into the starting XI and remained there till the end of the World Cup, as Argentina won the competition for the third time in their history.

Fernandez joined Benfica just last summer though and it is believed that the Portuguese club want his €120 million release clause met, if they are to let him leave anytime soon.
