Real Madrid are not expected to make any additions to their squad this January but the next summer transfer window could prove to be a very different story. The club have been linked with some of the most highly-rated players in world football, as it looks like they are ready to take a step into the future as the previous era inches towards an end with every passing season.

One of the areas that Real Madrid might need to make signings in is their midfield. Both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are all-time greats of the game, but their futures are up in the air at the moment.

Modric is 37 years of age and surely in the twilight of his career, while Kroos is believed to be contemplating retirement at the end of this season, even though he is just 32 right now. As a result, the club will need to bring in players who can replace these legends in the long run.

There are very few players on the planet right now, who are more in demand than Jude Bellingham, who at 19 years of age is already one of the best in the game. Real Madrid and Liverpool are believed to be the two frontrunners in the race to sign him, but it looks like Jurgen Klopp’s side might be in the lead at the moment.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Ben Jacobs said:

"“At the moment, I think Liverpool are the frontrunners for Jude Bellingham.“Real Madrid have put in a lot of legwork as well and I think both of those two clubs have confidence.“But the difference between the two is that Liverpool perhaps are prepared to pay a bit more than Real Madrid.”"

Thus, it looks like Liverpool are the ones in the front seat, when it comes to the transfer race for Bellingham, thanks to the fact that they are perhaps willing to shell out a bigger fee than Real Madrid.

It might take a transfer fee as high as €150 million to convince Borussia Dortmund to part ways with their superstar next summer.
