Fabrizio Romano gives update on Real Madrid target
There are some areas of the pitch where Real Madrid need to bring in reinforcements more urgently than others. Right-back is certainly one such area. Dani Carvajal is a club legend but he is 30 years of age now and there have been questions over his recent form. On the other hand, his cover option is Lucas Vazquez and he is even older. Alvaro Odriozola is expected to depart, having not played a single minute of football this season and is being linked with AS Roma and Juventus.
Thus, Real Madrid could definitely do with another right-back as soon as possible and one player that they have been linked with in recent times is Bayer Leverkusen’s rising Dutch star, Jeremie Frimpong.
Frimpong has been one of the most exciting young talents in the Bundesliga, since he joined Bayer Leverkusen from Celtic, and he was also a part of the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
A move away from Germany is not expected soon, even though he has been linked with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea and several other top clubs. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen want to keep Frimpong at least until the end of the season, unless they receive a ‘crazy’ offer.
Fabrizio gives update on Real Madrid transfer target
Frimpong not leaving in January would be a boost for Real Madrid. While they have been linked with the Dutch youngster, and several others recently, the club are not expected to make any signings next month.
The upcoming summer transfer window seems to be a different story though and it appears that Real Madrid have big plans, including a deal to bring Jude Bellingham to the club.
Someone like Frimpong could be an excellent addition to the current Real Madrid squad, in a position where they need reinforcements. But one cannot rule out the prospect of clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and others to swoop in with big offers in January itself.
