Real Madrid could have easily lost the game against Real Valladolid if not for the brilliance of Thibaut Courtois in goal, who was the best player on the pitch and pulled off some key saves. At the same time though, they had Eduardo Camavinga to thank for making a difference on the other end of the pitch and helping secure the three points with a 2-0 win.

Having played in the World Cup final, Camavinga was not expected to be even included in the squad. Fortunately, he was because bringing him on proved to be vital.

Camavinga replaced Dani Ceballos, and the youngster brought his energy into the game, something that Real Madrid needed badly as they had looked very sluggish on the day.

Ultimately, the opener came from the penalty spot, as Karim Benzema made no mistake after what had been a poor performance from him until that point. And then, Camavinga made a powerful run down the left flank before providing a beautiful cutback assist to the reigning Ballon d’Or holder to get his brace and put the game to bed.

After a bright debut campaign at Santiago Bernabeu, the expectation was that Camavinga would see his role in the team increase this season.

Until now, that has not happened, and the Frenchman has come under a bit of criticism for some of his performances as well.

But just like he showed in the World Cup final, and now against Real Valladolid, Camavinga is a difference maker and a very important part of this Real Madrid team. Yes, he might not be ready to be a starter just yet but he definitely deserves more playing time in order to accelerate his development into a top player.

Hopefully, his display was enough to impress Carlo Ancelotti and the manager will give him more minutes moving forward.

Recently, there have also been some rumours about him being included in a deal for Jude Bellingham. Real Madrid should definitely not consider that idea.
