Real Madrid did not have a comfortable game vs Real Valladolid. In fact, for a good while, it had looked like they were set to drop points against the bottom half opposition and could have even lost the game, if not for the heroics of Thibaut Courtois in goal. Carlo Ancelotti’s side managed to pull out the win once again though.

They were awarded a late penalty kick and Karim Benzema made no mistake from the spot. And then he got his brace, thanks to an incredible run and assist from Eduardo Camavinga, who made a big impact after coming off of the bench.

The expectation was that Camavinga would not participate in this game, as he was involved in France’s run to the World Cup final. But not only did the French youngster feature against Real Valladolid, but he made the difference as well.

Ancelotti was full of praise for Camavinga after the game. As reported by MARCA, the Real Madrid boss said about the French midfielder:

"“He has shown it since he has arrived. He makes the difference when he enters the match because he has a lot of energy. He’s an important player for us.”"

Real Madrid certainly needed the energy that Camavinga brought into the game, because until then, they had looked sluggish and devoid of ideas.

Camavinga certainly made a huge difference on the night, and the highlight was clearly his run down the left before cutting it back for Benzema, who had a simple finish to make it 2-0 and end any hopes of Real Valladolid making a late comeback and getting a draw.

Thus, Camavinga deserves a lot of credit for his performance and he also deserves to get more playing time moving forward. The youngster has not played a lot of football this season and that needs to change, as he needs to play in order to continue his development.
