Real Madrid have been phenomenal in recent years when it comes to their transfer business. Los Blancos have not spent a lot of money on new signings, in fact, even some midtable Premier League clubs have outspent them over the past decade or so. But most of the additions that they have made have been fantastic, to go with the core of the players that they had signed over a decade ago, a number of whom have gone on to become club legends.
Of course, not all signings have been successful and a major mistake has proven to Real Madrid’s decision to break their transfer record in order to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea in the summer of 2019.
The Belgian had established himself as a Chelsea icon and Premier League legend during his seven years at Stamford Bridge, but his time at Santiago Bernabeu has been nothing short of a nightmare for Hazard.
Over the past three-and-a-half seasons, he has not been able to nail down his spot in the starting XI, having had to deal with one injury after another. And these days, he looks like a shell of the player he was during his prime.
Real Madrid star is expected to leave next summer despite recent rumours
Some recent rumours have broken out that Hazard has impressed Carlo Ancelotti and the coaches after returning from the World Cup. Of course, that has raised hopes that he can be a bigger part of Real Madrid’s plans moving forward.
But as reported by Relevo, without a miracle to remedy it, the Belgian will leave Real Madrid next summer.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has played 229 minutes of football in this campaign till now. Only Mariano Diaz, Jesus Vallejo and Alvaro Odriozola have played less minutes than Hazard, for Real Madrid this season. That goes on to show his position at the club right now.
Unless Hazard unexpectedly resurrects his career in the second half of this season, one would expect him to be on the way out when the summer transfer window opens.
