Left-back has emerged as a position of worry for Real Madrid in recent times. The club have Ferland Mendy as the starter there. But the Frenchman does leave a lot to be desired going forward and there are doubts whether he is the long-term solution in the area. Unfortunately, there is no genuine competition for him.

It is David Alaba who fills in for Mendy, whenever the Frenchman does not play, despite the Austrian being the regular starter at centre-back for Los Blancos as well.

While no additions are expected in January, rumours have suggested that Real Madrid could look to bring in another left-back next summer and they are believed to be keeping an eye on their former youth star, Fran Garcia.

Garcia failed to nail down a spot in the first-team and left Real Madrid after making just one appearance for the senior team. He has been pretty good for Rayo Vallecano though and now, there is a possibility that Los Blancos could bring him back to Santiago Bernabeu. They are not the only ones interested in the 23-year-old though.

As reported by Relevo, if Alex Moreno leaves, Garcia is Real Betis’ Plan A. A move will not be easy though, as Rayo Vallecano are expected to want his €10 million release clause in order to let the left-back leave in the middle of the season.

On the other hand, Real Madrid are believed to have the right of first refusal on their former youth star as well.

It remains to be seen how things play out over the coming weeks but it looks like Garcia has managed to establish himself as one of the most in-demand talents in La Liga. Whether a rumoured return to Real Madrid materialises or not, only time shall tell.
