Real Madrid have been linked with some of the most highly rated young talents in world football in recent times, as it looks like the club are preparing to step into the future. Names like Jude Bellingham, Alphonso Davies and Josko Gvardiol have been doing the rounds of the rumour mill constantly over the last few weeks.

Another name that Real Madrid are believed to hold an interest in is Enzo Fernandez, who was named the Young Player of the Tournament at the World Cup, as Argentina were crowned champions.

Fernandez’s introduction into that team proved to be a turning point for the South American giants, after the Benfica star had started the World Cup as a substitute. Following the tournament his stock has skyrocketed though and now, it looks like a move to Chelsea is on the cards this month.

As reported by GianlucaDiMarzio.com, Fernandez is now very close to signing with Chelsea. The transfer fee will be set at €127 million.

Why Chelsea deal would be bad news for Real Madrid

First of all, it is unlikely that Real Madrid would have shelled out that kind of a figure to sign Fernandez from Benfica. But if the Argentine does end up at Chelsea, it could start a domino effect.

Liverpool were believed to have been very interested in Fernandez as well and if he heads for Chelsea, then the Reds might turn all their focus back to Bellingham, who is believed to be Real Madrid’s top target next summer, and make a push for the Englishman.

Also, a €127 million deal for Fernandez could further raise the transfer value of the Borussia Dortmund star.

On the other hand, Fernandez was rumoured to have been Real Madrid’s alternative target in case they missed out on Bellingham.

Thus, whatever way you look at it, the Argentine joining Chelsea in January would not be good news for Real Madrid.
