Jude Bellingham is believed to be Real Madrid’s priority for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Englishman is perhaps the most in demand talent in world football right now after his prodigious displays for both Borussia Dortmund and the England national team at 19 years of age.
Bellingham has the potential to be the best midfielder of his generation and thus, the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City are all believed to be after his signature and understandably so.
Some recent rumours had suggested that Real Madrid had taken the lead in the race to sign Bellingham over Liverpool and Manchester City, which would have been brilliant news for Los Blancos. There had even been some suggestions that the Englishman had his heart set on a move to Santiago Bernabeu. But now, it looks like that might not be the case after all.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that all three clubs are leading the race to sign Bellingham. As reported by CaughtOffside, via his Substack column, he said:
"“Jude Bellingham remains a priority for Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid. These three clubs are leading the race. All three clubs are in contact with Bellingham’s team. As of now, nothing has been decided.”"
Real Madrid handed Bellingham transfer problem
Thus, it looks like Real Madrid might not be leading the race for Bellingham’s signature on their own, as had been the suggestion.
Even then, they have been named as one of the teams in the front of the queue, which still puts them in a pretty good position.
We are still a long way away from the summer transfer window and a lot can change between now and then. It does feel like how this season plays out could end up having a major impact on the race to sign Bellingham as well.
There is no doubt that someone like Bellingham would be a terrific addition to this Real Madrid side. Now, it remains to be seen if they can get a deal over the line ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City or not.
